Join in the discussion with local HR professionals to find out the do's and dont's of applying for jobs in Belgium. Learn what is and may be expected and how to adapt to professional norms during the application process. Moderator Marie-Aimée from Talent Interlock will use her wealth of experience helping internationals with successful career transitions to ask probing questions and find new insights to help internationals on their job hunt. About the Moderator:

Marie-Aimée Ishimwe is a policy advisor specializing in higher education. With experience spanning eight countries, she brings a global, intercultural, feminist, and anti-racist perspective to social justice issues in higher education, public policy, health, and arts and culture.
Beyond her policy work, she is also a Freelance HR Consultant for international professionals, offering job search coaching, CV and cover letter workshops, and Q&A sessions to support career development.
Committed to community engagement, youth mentoring, and mental health advocacy, Marie-Aimée facilitates circle talks on mental health, fostering safe spaces for open dialogue and peer support. Through youth mentoring, she applies her expertise in education and the job market to address social justice challenges and co-create support networks within her communities. About the Panelist:

Charlot van Parijs is the Sales Director at CTRL-F, a recruitment and selection company specializing in engineering, finance, logistics and sales & marketing profiles. Every day, CTRL-F ensures the right match between specialized engineers and challenging jobs in the industry. With 11 years of experience at The House of HR, one of Europe's leading HR service providers, she has primarily developed her expertise in engineering and international recruitment.
About the Panelist:

Griet Schotsmans is the Country HR Manager at Siemens Industry Software (SISW), a division of the multinational Siemens.
15 years ago, Griet started working at LMS International, a spin-off from KULeuven. In 2013, LMS International was acquired by Siemens, marking the start of Griet's diverse career within the company, where she held different kind of positions within HR.
In her role, Griet oversees the hiring of highly skilled personnel, primarily those with engineering backgrounds. Due to the challenges of finding suitable candidates within Belgium, SISW is hiring mostly outside of Belgium. Currently 36 different nationalities are employed by SISW (over the 3 entities in Leuven, Huizingen & Liège).
About the Panelist:

After graduating with a master’s in mechanical engineering at the KU Leuven and a short intermezzo as a researcher, Geert became the co-founder of a Leuven-based IT company. Here, he quickly took on Human Resources, of which recruitment was important.
Since 2017, Geert has worked as a freelance HR and Talent Acquisition consultant for high-tech companies. He is currently active at Apixa, a KU Leuven spin-off active in the field of computer vision and artificial intelligence.
